Her New Plushie

A picture for , featuring Data (lookie, here he is again! This fellow is officially the most frequent non-TOS Star Trek character in my gallery! ) and her adorable character, Q'Mar. Q'Mar's species, the Lorquians (which SweetOphelia made up), have ceratopsian-like head-frills but gliding membranes on their arms and legs, resembling those of flying squirrels. She let me try to figure out how their clothing would work, and all I could really come up with was a simple halter-sash starting at the collar and wrapping around the body vertically, since there can't really be any comfortable sleeves or pant-legs to fit over their wing-membranes. Also, she informed me, the Lorquians see in black-and-white, so they often end up wearing bright, clashing colors to human eyes. I tried to reference that with the little kerchiefs Q'Mar has tied on her outfit. Q'Mar also wears a respirator near her neck, since her species needs different air compounds/gasses/whatever-you'd-call-them to breathe than humans do.

This scene is from a story SweetOphelia wrote about Data giving a toy to Q'Mar to cheer her up. The little alien is homesick and remembers a dolphin-like creature from her planet, so Data finds a plush dolphin to give her, which she later names "Pikk." She gives Data a big hug too!
